Art Fund
Save Prospect Cottage - fundraising campaign
2019-20
Art Fund needed a striking public campaign to raise £3.5 million to save the filmmaker Derek Jarman’s house Prospect Cottage in Dungeness, Kent. In order to reach this huge target we knew we needed to reach new audiences from the film, LGBTQIA+ and gardening communities, so devised a campaign strategy that activated support on social and traditional media through celebrities and artists. This included getting artists to create highly desirable crowd-funding rewards and working with the costume designer Sandy Powell to get her suit signed by over 200 celebrities at the 2020 Oscars. It was the largest-ever arts crowdfunding campaign in the UK, reaching its target in just 10 weeks.
